In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, near the French-Spanish border, heavy rainfall caused the collapse of 50 meters of roadway of the D918, the road that leads to the Gourette ski resort.
The road was to be rebuilt as soon as possible
so that the inhabitants could use it again and so that the route of the
Tour de France could be maintained.
Terre Armée quickly responded to the call of the Gauthier company, in charge of the overall reconstruction project on behalf of the Department Council. Terre Armée France teams realized in record time the design of a Reinforced Earth® retaining wall and provided its constituent elements (strips and panels).
The 250-square-meter-wall could be implemented in time, thus allowing the rehabilitation of the road before the passage of the cyclists on July 27th.
